The Y-DNA haplogroup tree represents the classification of the male Y-chromosome. It is used to estimate the population group of the paternal line. The haplogroups are identified by letters (A through R) and are subdivided into subclades. Y-DNA haplogroups are groups of men sharing the same series of mutations on their Y chromosome, inherited from common paternal ancestors.
