Real Madrid has overcome Kylian Mbappé’s red card for a reckless tackle in the first half to win 1-0 at Alaves and get back to within four points of Spanish league leader Barcelona.

Kylian Mbappé received the first red card of his Real Madrid career for a dangerous tackle against Alavés. Real Madrid came into their fixture with Alavés in desperate need of a victory after suffering two poor defeats to Valencia and Arsenal.

Mbappe was sent off for a late, forceful tackle on Alaves’ Antonio Blanco, catching the midfielder high on the leg with his studs.
