The PS2 might still be the best selling console of all time, but almost eight years after its launch, the Nintendo Switch continues to close the gap, with Nintendo now confirming that it shipped over 150 million units as of the end of last year.

Nintendo has modified its hardware sales forecast from 12.5 million to 11 million units for the financial year ending March 2025. The company cites the release of both Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Super Mario Bros. Wonder in 2023 as a significant sales-driving factor explaining the comparative year-on-year decline.

Nintendo is caught between its eight-year-old Switch console and the next-gen Switch 2 — a purgatory that usually hits sales.

Scalpers are going to try to buy up as many Switch 2 consoles as possible, but Nintendo has a plan to stop them.
