The Weather Authority will be monitoring the threat of multiple rounds of rain this week. The rain will be beneficial with the current drought conditions, but with it all arriving at once it could lead to problems.

Snow and ice aren’t the only things this winter storm double-header will bring across the East this week. Heavy rain and storms will be a threat on the warm side of both systems, posing flash flooding concerns across a large swath of the South.

Tuesday and Wednesday are First Alert Weather Days. Watch for localized flooding of poor drainage areas. Poor driving conditions are expected, so be sure to allow extra travel time. Widespread rain will develop by sunrise, Tuesday. Rain is expected for much of the day.

A slow-moving frontal system will bring rounds of heavy rain and a threat of flooding to Western North Carolina and the upstate.
