Original Sin ends with Deb (Molly Brown) deciding to forego a college volleyball scholarship to follow in her father and brother’s footsteps at Miami Metro, setting up the intricate web of lies Dexter must weave to keep his cop sister off his blood-soaked trail.

Dexter: Resurrection, a continuation of the original series with Michael C. Hall, Uma Thurman, and Peter Dinklage is expected to begin airing this summer. I expect better things, although those expectations are not particularly high.

Original Sin ended on a high note over the weekend, measuring a finale audience that grew 27% over the December premiere. The finale tallied 2.68M global viewers on Paramount+ with Showtime, according to Paramount Global.

Because the two shows are inextricably tied, you should watch Dexter before watching Dexter: Original Sin if you want to understand all the subtle nuances and Easter eggs. But then again, for someone who wishes to follow the storyline chronologically and thus begin with the prequel—the 2024 show has a premise that is still easy to follow.
