Virat Kohli batted in nine innings across five Tests and barring the second innings century at Perth in the opening Test, and a 36 in the first innings in Melbourne, he has failed to get going.

Rohit Sharma dropped himself from the Sydney Test after poor performances in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar series. With India not playing any Tests till June, many believe Rohit and Kohli might not be the automatic choices for the England tour and would need runs behind them.

BCCI has told Rohit Sharma that he is not a part of its Test cricket plans anymore. According to The Indian Express, the decision to leave Rohit out was taken after a meeting between the skipper, head coach Gautam Gambhir and the chairman of selectors,

Sanjay Manjrekar said that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma should play county cricket to make a strong case for themselves before the Test series against England later this year.

Rohit Sharma's Test career is now reportedly finished while the selectors are set to discuss Virat Kohli's future. Rohit isn't part of the playing XI for the ongoing Sydney Test match against Australia.
