The most famous wolf in Yellowstone National Park, collar number 907F, has died. Known as the “Queen of the Wolves” for her prolific lineage, 907F produced 10 litters of pups in 11 years — one of just six recorded wolves to reach that age since the animals were reintroduced to Yellowstone in 1995.

Wildlife watchers, while mourning the loss of 907F, also celebrated that she could "die the way of the wolf," not as a result of contact with a human or vehicle.

In an unfortunate incident reflecting nature’s war of survival, Yellowstone National Park has bid farewell to one of its most iconic inhabitants, Wolf 907F, affectionately known as the “Queen of the Wolves.
