Las Vegas has found its man at quarterback, while Seattle has embraced a full reset, as the Raiders have traded a 2025 third-round pick to the Seahawks in exchange for quarterback Geno Smith, NFL Network and ESPN reported Friday.

HENDERSON, Nev. — The Las Vegas Raiders agreed in principle to send a 2025 third-round pick (via the New York Jets) to the Seattle Seahawks for quarterback Geno Smith on Friday, according to league sources, but the trade can’t be finalized until the start of the 2025 NFL league year at 1 p.m. PT on Wednesday.

Pete Carroll moved from Seattle to Las Vegas, and Geno Smith is moving with him, too. The Seahawks have traded the veteran quarterback to the Raiders in exchange for a 2025 third-round pick, according to CBS Sports NFL insider Jonathan Jones .

The Raiders landed the veteran quarterback they’ve so desperately sought over the last month since hiring coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Spytek.

Smith was acquired by the Raiders for a third-round pick, with the Seahawks seemingly planning on rebuilding their roster this offseason. The Seahawks apparently made a big offer to try and acquire Raiders defensive star Maxx Crosby prior to the Smith trade, but the Raiders quickly turned them down.

The Las Vegas Raiders reportedly traded for Geno Smith because they did not believe they would be able to get Shedeur Sanders or Cam Ward.

Before the deal got done that sent Geno Smith to Las Vegas for a third round pick, the Raiders shot down the Seahawks completely bonkers offer.
