The Canadiens announced an unfortunate Kaiden Guhle injury update as they continue to chase a Wild Card spot in the East.

Guhle scored a goal on three shots, blocked two shots and had one hit in Thursday's 4-2 loss to the Red Wings. Guhle's wrist shot from the point looked harmless, but it worked its way through several bodies and past Cam Talbot.

Talbot kept the Red Wings’ two-goal lead intact at 5:05 of the third period by shutting down Cole Caufield’s breakaway attempt. Detroit’s penalty kill also answered the call after the club unsuccessfully challenged for no goaltender interference just past the halfway mark of the frame.

John Klingberg made his debut with the Oilers when they played the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday. The 32-year-old had five assists in 14 games last season with the Toronto Maple Leafs before his season ended because of hip surgery.
