American pop icon Lady Gaga takes the stage on Rio de Janeiro's Copacabana Beach on Saturday night in a free concert that is expected to draw more than 1.6 million people and be one of the biggest of her career.

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil — Rio de Janeiro's iconic Copacabana Beach was filling up fast Saturday with excited fans of Lady Gaga, hours before the American superstar is to perform at a free mega-concert. Some fans — known affectionately as Gaga's "Little Monsters" — were already in line at daybreak.

Lady Gaga will give a free concert on Copacabana Beach Saturday night, the second such show in as many years organized by Rio de Janeiro’s City Hall.
