Max Johnson suffered a season-ending leg injury during North Carolina's 2024 season-opening matchup against Minnesota, an injury so serious that Johnson revealed he was concerned he might need to undergo amputation.

However, 11 months and quite a bit of rehab later, Johnson has been fully cleared. With Bill Belichick now at the helm, the senior will compete for the starting job with sophomore transfer Gio Lopez and freshman Bryce Baker at fall camp.

Johnson is fully cleared to participate in fall camp, and he said he feels completely healthy just under a year removed from the awful night in Minnesota. He worked out with his teammates throughout the summer conditioning program and will not have any limitations in the ramp-up to the season.
