The transportation secretary announced a far-reaching plan to drastically overhaul the current technology used by thousands of controllers responsible for guiding planes in and out of airports.

U.S. Secretary of Transportation Sean P. Duffy announced a plan to revitalize the nation’s air traffic control infrastructure Thursday. The Department of Transportation (DOT) said the purpose of the plan is to address vital safety requirements and built a “state-of-the-art air traffic control system” in a Thursday press release.
