European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on Wednesday unveiled the EU's proposed new budget for 2028-2340, calling it a "budget for a new era".
Britain is now closely aligned with Brussels on 21 policy areas, up from four at the beginning of the year. They include defence and security, energy and competition policy.
