The Richmond County Sheriff's Office has confirmed that one person has died after a shooting on Broad Street Wednesday afternoon.

A man was fatally shot in downtown Augusta on Wednesday. A man was shot in the chest at about 3:30 pm. at a location on the 700 block of Broad Street, noted the Richmond County Sheriff's Office in a news release.

Augusta, Ga (WFXG) - The Richmond County Sheriff's Office reported that deputies were called out to a shooting on the 700 Block of Broad Street on Jan. 8, at 3:23 p.m. Deputies located a male victim who had been shot at least one time in the chest. The victim was taken to the hospital where he later died due to his injuries.
