Aldi has confirmed that four of its Winn-Dixie stores will be closing for renovations in December and January and will reopen later as Aldi stores. They are among 50 Winn-Dixies and Harveys Supermarket locations that Aldi promised to convert after finalizing its purchase of Winn-Dixie parent Southeastern Grocers in March.

Ald. Ronnie Mosley (21st) said the closure is a breaking of a promise that Aldi would remain in the neighborhood.

Aldi closed its West Pullman location Sunday, leaving the Far South Side neighborhood without a nearby grocery store.
