The Hawai‘i Department of Agriculture, in consultation with the Department of Health and the Department of Land and Natural Resources, is extending the voluntary pause on the interisland transport of poultry and other bird species for at least another 90 days as a precaution to prevent the spread of highly pathogenic avian influenza,

The pause is meant to be a precaution to prevent the spread of highly pathogenic avian influenza, commonly referred to as avian influenza or bird flu. The initial 90-day pause was issued Dec. 13, 2024,
