Radioactive shrimp. That’s not a typo. That’s not clickbait. That’s what’s going down at Walmart right now. The retail giant has issued a multi-state recall for several lots of its Great Value frozen shrimp after the FDA flagged potential contamination with Cesium-137 — a radioactive byproduct most commonly associated with nuclear reactors and atomic bombs.

A widening seafood safety scare has prompted federal officials to expand a nationwide shrimp recall for the second time in a week. Walmart’s popular Great Value brand to the growing list of products pulled from store shelves over concerns about possible radioactive contamination.

Some packages of Great Value frozen shrimp sold at Walmart are at risk for potential for Cesium-137 contamination, the FDA says.
