LGBTQ Nation on MSNAna Navarro begs Gloria Gaynor to reject president’s award because of “the gay community”
Following the president’s announcement on Wednesday that he’ll award singer Gloria Gaynor a Kennedy Center Honor for her lifetime of achievement in the arts, The View host Ana Navarro urged her to reject it. “Don’t do it, Gloria!” Navarro posted to Instagram on Thursday.
The petulant president nominating Gloria Gaynor as a Kennedy Center honoree isn’t as surprising as it may first appear. An old queen at heart, the once aspiring Broadway producer seems most at peace when he’s waxing poetic about Les Miserables or reminiscing about his memorable night at Cats.
CNN pundit Tia Mitchell said the administration had “struggled to find a person of color who would agree to be on the list.”
The registered Republican shared Thursday morning an impassioned plea calling for Gaynor to reject Trump's Kennedy Center award, highlighting the "I Will Survive" icon's large LGBTQ fan base as a primary reason to reject the accolade amid the president's anti-trans and anti-community stances that have drawn widespread criticism.
