Amazon is officially shutting down Freevee, its free, ad-supported video streaming service originally launched under the IMDb brand.

It's official -- free, ad-supported video on demand streaming service Amazon Freevee will be phased out over the coming weeks.

Amazon has confirmed it is shutting down Freevee, its free ad-supported streaming service, and folding it into Prime Video.

An ad-supported version of Prime Video is included with Amazon’s delivery service, which costs $14.99 per month, or $139 per year. An ad-free version of Prime Video is also available for an additional $2.99 per month. A stand-alone streaming subscription costs $8.99 per month.

Despite Freevee's shutdown, its spirit will live on over at Prime Video, as the main Amazon streaming platform will soon offer a "Watch for Free" section that will allow non-Prime subscribers to watch from the platform.

Amazon is going to shut down Freevee, its free ad-supported streaming television (FAST) service. The service’s content has already been migrated over to Prime Video and new episodes of Freevee shows will be available to people who don’t pay for Prime, Deadline reports.
