State and local officials said they did their best to coordinate evacuations and rescues, but better cellphone service might help in future floods.
Sheriff Ed Gonzalez and the Harris County Sheriff’s Office are holding a donation drive to collect essential supplies. Their goal is to fill a 53-foot trailer and deliver much-needed relief to fellow Texans impacted by the floods. Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
The search for victims of the July Fourth floods continues in Kerr County. Non-profit group, Minuteman Disaster Response, has been on the ground.
LEANDER, Texas — Travis County said it will open a new “volunteer reception center” (VRC) on Tuesday to help coordinate volunteer activities and opportunities in areas affected by this month’s floods. It comes in response to what the county said was an outpouring of support from community members.
Search crews continued the grueling task of recovering the missing as more potential flash flooding threatened Texas Hill Country.
In the Austin area, 12 people are still missing and 16 are known to have perished after rain swept away homes along rivers and creeks.
